ASUU strike...Is the battle ever going to end

Before I gained admision into the university, I was well familiar with the term "ASUU is on strike" than even the name of the University I applied for. It was so bad that I was told not to enter for the longer duration courses such as Law,Medicine,Pharmacy, etc otherwise I would have my first child while in school because instead of the normal 6 or 7 years am suppose to spend depending on the course in question, I should be prepared to spend close to 10 years. This was qiute scary.

For over 3 months now Nigerian students have been at home idle all the name of ASUU strike. How I wish somebody out there knows the implications of this. At first I thought it was because of the recent past elections, maybe the government and ASUU arranged for the strike so as to keep students at home under their parents control. Unfortunately it turns out not to be so.

The annoying aspect of it all is that you hear government officials come on national television to talk about educational reforms and how the government intend to improve it. Is this the kind of reforms they intend to impliment? If the answer is positve then the educational system of this country has just been buried.

The battle embark upon by ASUU though is for the betterment of the whole educational system in Nigeria but we should not forget also that the Lecturers are also fighting for their pocket. I still believe that the reward of a teacher is in heaven so our honourable lecturers please resume back to work. I know you all miss work just like the students misse you too.

We all want an end to this war, and soonest
